Author, More Than Words Can Say:
The Making of Inspired Speakers
Saskia is happiest when hanging out in a yoga twist, cooking,
coaching clients in public speaking — though not doing all at the same time!
Her Yoga practice spans 40 years — on & off, sometimes more off,
sometimes more on. She became certified to teach under Alan
Bateman in NYC in 1996, when she decided she wanted to know
how to sequence a class and make sure that safety came first . . .
never intending to teach . . . just intending to refine her own practice.
But Life had other ideas!
She has taught corporate Yoga in NYC and had a roster of celebrity
clients for private sessions. No one was more surprised than Saskia!
About 2 years ago, she started studying Yin Yoga — a form that targets
the joints and the connective tissue of the body. But it was only recently
that she experienced a class in this approach, which emphasizes long
holding of supported poses, so the muscles can relax and the connective
tissue can stretch.
She was hooked! This is the form of Yoga that she had been doing all her
life but didn’t know the name of. Yin Yoga is very gentle. It moves us into
stillness, not activity. It is suitable for people on all levels, especially couch
potatoes . . . those who think they are not flexible enough to do
Yoga . . . and those who wish to open up in a gradual, comfortable way.
